LESSARD DAYCARE AND AFTERSCHOOL CARE
QUARTERLY PARENT NEWS LETTER
MARCH 2021 – MAY 2021
FIND US ON THE WEB AT WWW.LESSARDDAYCARE.COM
Lessard Daycare & After School Care would like to express our sincere gratitude to each and every family for the incredibly important support you are providing to us during this pandemic by wearing mask, staggered entry, social distancing, daily filling screening check list by online, sanitizing, stay at home if there is any symptoms etc… and only that’s why we are going great so…far. Thank you very much for your understanding while we help keep each other safe and healthy.
As we are living with lot of restrictions and are fighting together against the pandemic, family gatherings and celebrations are not possible. But still, we are very keen to make sure that our kids are not missing anything by arranging special activities on special days like Chinese New Year, Valentin’s Day & Family Day. Yes, February 12th was a festive day at Lessard Daycare and After School Care with Red outfits, Dragon Parade, Chinese Dance, Noodles & Candy … a warm celebration during the extreme cold weather.
As the weather can be very unpredictable this time of year and it is very important that all children have warm clothes with them everyday at day care as we believe that fresh air and outdoor play is an important facet of our everyday activities. Please note however that if temperatures dip below minus 20, we will not be going outside and will find an alternate indoor activity.

SUMMER 2021/SEPTEMBER SURVEYS
As usual, we will be sending out parent surveys that will ask families if their child [children] will attend through summer and continue into September. The surveys will send out the beginning of May. We appreciate this information because it allows us to plan more efficiently for our summer program [if the summer attractions are open for children this year] and allow for staff vacation as well.

READING TIPS FOR PRESCHOOL PARENTS
Read together every day
Read to your child every day. Make this a warm and loving time when the two of you can cuddle close.
Give everything a name
Build your child's vocabulary by talking about interesting words and objects. For example, "Look at that airplane! Those are the wings of the plane. Why do you think they are called wings?"
Say how much you enjoy reading
Tell your child how much you enjoy reading with him or her. Talk about "story time" as the favorite part of your day.
Read with fun in your voice
Read to your child with humor and expression. Use different voices. Ham it up!
Know when to stop
Put the book away for a while if your child loses interest or is having trouble paying attention.
Be interactive
Discuss what's happening in the book, point out things on the page, and ask questions.
Read it again and again
Go ahead and read your child's favorite book for the 100th time!
Talk about writing, too
Mention to your child how we read from left to right and how words are separated by spaces.
Point out print everywhere
Talk about the written words you see in the world around you. Ask your child to find a new word on each outing.
Get your child evaluated
Please be sure to see your child's pediatrician or teacher as soon as possible if you have concerns about your child's language development, hearing, or sight.
